which airline has the best business class?
i am planning a vacation to england next year and wanna fly business class but have been reading alot of the reviews on the net about each airline having a disasterous business class, from BA, VA, Delta, and continental…which one has the most amenities for comfort??? i dont really care about the IFE cause i plan on taking my own DVD player and snacks so i’m not trying to be waited on hand and foot but do wanna be acknowledged…i also plan on sleeping and would like to be comfortable and would prefer a lie flat seat for my money…
The problem with business class is that you read about them on airlines web sites. They always look perfect and you see a flat bed that look very cozy.
The airline may indeed have some planes fitted with the newest and greatest business class, but other planes will have an “old” version which maybe isn’t a flat bed.
This is because business class cabins are refurbished maybe every 3-5 years. When a new “version” is introduced, they install it when the plane is scheduled for a major service. It can take 1-2 years before all planes have the new version.
To complicate things, the airline may choose not to have the new version on all airplane models or routes. You can not be sure what version you will get until you board the plane. Planes can be replaced at last minute and you might be unlucky.
The only airline that I know, and this has been discussed in detail on flyertalk.com, that have a fully flat bed on all planes, is BA. They have convertet all planes to their new business class. Well all planes except one I believe, but that is on the Hong Kong route. I’ve included a link to the BA forum, please join and ask anything related to BA.
Now, BA business class (Club World) is one of the best out there if you look at the “hard” product. The seat is lie flat. Window seats are very private, almost like your own cabin when the privacy screen is raised. IFE is on-demand and with a large movie library, large screen and noise reduced headphones. BA lounges are also very good, especially at Heathrow with hot food, snacks and drinks.
The “soft” product is good but maybe not the best out there. The amenity kit is pretty poor and only has the basics. Meals are decent but not to die for. Service varies from good to excellent depending on what crew you get.
If you value a guaranteed lie flat bed, privacy and excellent lounges. I recommend BA.
