How do frequent flyer miles between airline partners work? When I fly on one do I earn on both?
For instance, US Air and United are both part of Mileage Plus. If I have 20,000 miles on US Air and 10,000 miles on United, if I fly to Europe, can I apply those miles to my US Air account as well as my United account with my ticket stub?
When you fly on United and US Airways, you can apply the miles on either. Example: you are flying on United, but want to apply your US Airways dividend miles number, you can. And vice-versa.
They are members of the Star Alliance program, as well as many other airlines.
Once you accumulate enough miles in either account you can “bank” them together to get a ticket. With the example that you used you can combine your United and your US Airways miles to purchace your ticket to Europe.
It is a little confusing for alot of people and I get this question all of the time.
